Lol that’s pretty unique.
you plant and water them, but if you’re living in an apartment, where do you plan on taking care of the roses? And they won’t really be a suprise if you’re growing them at home and she’s living with you
Yellow roses smell really nice! So if you can, grow those!
Sorry, I don’t have any tips though.
If you have a sunny window, buy your wife a miniature rose plant that she can enjoy indoors. If you have a spot outside that your landlord will let you use, you could plant a hybrid tea rose, the best kind for cutting.

Good Luck. You are so sweet. If it does not work out, it is the thought that counts.
well, she would obviously see the roses and ask who their for. so dont plant them at your house, plant them somewhere else. otherwise she’ll find then!
You should have done it in early spring, its the best season to grow roses, but anyways here is how it is done:
Choosing the right roses: Find what suites your taste. DO some research to find out what climates they are good in, how they grow, their color, height growth, etc.
Plant in soil with good drainage.
Soak in water for 24 hours before planting your roses.
Plant in an area with access to plenty of sunlight. They need at least 6 hours of it per day.
6Make sure the soil is acidic: pH levels ranging between 5.8-6.3 are good.
Build a basin of dirt around the rose bush during the first few days to help them retain water.
Water daily the first week. From then on, water every three days.
well if i were you and wanted to spend the time to grow them , and obviously you want to keep them hidden from her(or do you) i would suggest finding a nice wooded area maybe a a spot in the park or state park where no one is frequent and grow them there.maybe a friends house.or grom them on the roof if you can or if you have to do them indoors hydroponic machines have been getting slowly cheaper , however you would probably need a large one and that will cost you. i guess you can set up some grow lites in your closet and do it that way in a 5 gallon bucket with a timer to regulate the lite exposure it gets . the library would be a good place to start if you are serious on growing indoors.i suggest if you just want to have more meaning behind it just tell her you had to fight off an army or dragons to get them and hope she buys it. or just buy them and buy a container of rose pedals and do the whole candle lite dinner thing . that always seems to work. i must say i comend you for your level of thoughtfulness any girl would probably love to hear that not only did you give her flowers , that you grew them just for her. i say if you like her alot do it. give us good guys a better name!!!good luck
Since you are in an apartment I would reccomend mini roses which can be grown in a container. They come in many great colors.
