Did she say the leaves were burgundy colored?
I love them so much. They can cost a lot on your pocket. I have 4 type already and so far I have split them all over my house. I am giving it a few more year for it to fully grow.
Indeed, these are nearly fool proof roses, but I’d have to say they are in danger of becoming over planted through out the southeast, much like Bradford Pears and Leyland cypress have. There are a lot of landscape contractors out there that go to knockout rose by default when asked for a plant suggestion. I’m not saying it’s not a good plant, just that other plants shouldn’t be ignored. Other than that and the fact that the blooms on knock out rose lack personality, I’d say, go for it.
These knock out roses are unbelievable. I have had no luck growing roses at all in the south. I live in zone 7A, and all end up dying with the best care. The knock out’s need no work at all. They just grow and bloom from middle of March until late November.
I even planted mine in a large pot and they did great through the winter and ice storms. Mine are already in bloom and its April 18th. I cannot praise these roses enough. Go get them!!!
